DeBakey E-School

As per the directives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education-Qatar, our campus is currently closed due to global COVID-19 pandemic. However, the school continues to teach and provide services and support to all its students, parents and the community remotely and through E-School to ensure learning and other services are not interrupted.

DeBakey High School for Health Professions-Qatar is one of the first schools in the State of Qatar to provide its students a unique opportunity to learn and interact with their teachers through E-School using a variety of online platforms and resources.

Although students are not physically present on our school campus, teaching and learning is still taking place via well-known online educational platforms including Microsoft (MS) Teams and Zoom to educate our students and communicate with parents. Our students are able to continue to learn, develop new skills and experience differential teaching and learning. Each teacher was able to create a separate MS Teams Classroom for each class he or she is teaching. Teaching materials such as syllabi, lesson plans, study materials, and assignments were organized and placed on the platform by their subject teachers for all students to view and support their learning. Students were then issued individual usernames and passwords to access MS Teams in order to attend their classes remotely from their homes.

Message from the President & CEO

Dear Students, Parents, and Members of the DeBakey Family,

I am honored and extremely grateful for your support, hard work and diligence during this time of crisis that has disrupted our way of life. Despite all the challenges that we are all going through, I remain hopeful that this is a temporary situation, and through perseverance, cooperation and resolve, we will turn these challenges into opportunities and we will remain an outstanding DeBakey family.

Although we have converted our delivery methods through our DeBakey E-School, we have not compromised any of our core values and remain committed to providing the very best academic experience, services and support while caring for each student and family that we serve.

As we enter our third week of online instruction, I hope you will join me in thanking our teachers and staff, who have assisted in successfully launching our E-School and continue to be the best academic innovators in Qatar. Everyone on our team is working tirelessly to reinvent themselves in support of our mission. Each day, as a team, we search and find new methods, resources, and solutions that can enhance our ability to serve you. Please continue to support each other and share solutions while remaining steadfast in your adherence to the guidelines that will keep us all safe.

Finally, I pray and look forward to returning to normalcy where we can meet, engage and socialize with one another in person as well as appreciate all the relationships and life’s gifts that have been bestowed upon us. I am confident that we will all grow from this experience and we will continue to develop our students to be the next doctor, researcher, scientist, or engineer and hope they will help find solutions to prevent future pandemics from ever happening again. Our future is in their hands, in their hearts, and minds.

Thank you and may Peace Be Upon You.

Sincerely,

Dr. Virginia Parras
President & CEO
