Think Pink 2019: DeBakey Spreads Breast Cancer Awareness

The halls of Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions – Qatar echoed with laughter and excitement as students, faculty, and staff participated in the first ever glitter race. Lower school students stood on the start line in anticipation to be showered in glitter from confetti canons fired by the journalism class and they screamed and laughed their way to the finish line. Upper school donated their money and were showered from the second floor with confetti canons.

Student Council helped collect donations on Tuesday by taking polaroid photographs with the Think Pink backdrop and managed to score a few good photos for the yearbook.

Throughout the week, pink ribbons representing breast cancer awareness were sold and pinned onto our uniforms, along with generous donations placed in the pink box.

Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions – Qatar’s students also participated in the HST treasure hunt, poetry reading session, and learned more about the symptoms of the disease, while wearing pink in an effort to raise more money for the cause.

The school as a whole collected more than 1000 QR in the glitter race and ribbon selling alone! Students really stepped up and worked together to ensure that breast cancer is an issue they are passionately aware of.
